Is it normal that I took pictures of Imaya being changed by her daddy?

I got an email this week that listed the top 30 questions that a mother asks about her child. These are top questions I have had over the last few months...

Is it normal that my baby has hiccups frequently?
Is it normal that my baby sneezes frequently?
Is it normal that my baby has stinky feet?
Is it normal that my baby spits up a lot after every feeding?
Is it normal that my baby scowls frequently?
Is it normal if my baby doesn't gain a lot of weight one month?
Is it normal that my baby's hands and feet are almost always cold?
Is it normal that my baby will not sleep on her back?
Is it normal that my baby has to be held for a nap?
Is it normal that people think my baby is a boy?

So...is it normal?

16 weeks...wow.

Imaya is 16 weeks old today. She is getting so big and changing so much:

o The last three weeks she started drooling and chewing on her fingers and tries to eat anything she can get a hold of. I have a feeling that we will see some teeth soon.

o She definatly knows who her mommy is because she will follow me all around the room, look up to find me when she hears my voice, and moves her arms and hand when I am about to pick her up.

o She will swat and try to grab onto an object that you hold infront of her.

o She definately likes to bed held during her day naps. Only a few times have I been able to put her down in her crib for a long nap (> 15 minutes).

o Imaya sleeps an average of 10 to 12 hours at night, however, she does go to bed very late. This last week she has been falling asleep about 10:00 to 11:00 pm. I would like to contribute this to a before bed ritual that I recently started, but unfortunately I don't think it has anything to do with it.

o We are now up to 5oz

Boy how life changes. Our little peanut is growing up so fast. Where does the time go. Before I know it she will be eating foods, talking, and walking around. I am not sure I am ready for her to grow up and not want to cuddle with mommy anymore =(

In my daughters eyes...

I never really felt like a song was written for me except for now. The song in my daughter's eyes by Martina McBride is exactly what I have felt since Imaya was born but have been unable to put it into words. She is my everything..."She was sent to rescue me. I see who I want to be. I realize what life is all about." Up until this point in my life I thought my life was about getting a masters degree, making a lot of money, and material things. Boy was I couldn't have been more wrong. Life is about the people you meet, your family and friends, and most of all...your children. I realize who I want to be...the best mom that I can be. I see my life through her eyes...

Imaya loves her baths. Tonight while giving her a bath she began kicking for the first time. There wasn't much splashing, due to the low level of water, but I can for see myself getting very wet in the future. And, of course, I had to use this opportunity for another photo session. Good thing digital cameras were invented because I would have spend a fortune on developing film!!

Yet another first...

This morning Imaya woke me up at about 5:45 am. Unfortunately, I had awoke with a huge pounding headache. I thought, how am I going to get through this with a newborn by myself? I put her in her bouncy chair and after about 20 minutes she had enough of that. I tried to feed her a bottle so she would go back to sleep, but she wasn't having that either. Then, I decided to go downstairs and put her in her swing for awhile. Usually, she stands the swing for about 30 minutes max. I set the swing up by me on the couch and about 30 minutes later she was sound asleep. I couldn't believe it! I was so proud of my little girl...and I am happy to say that my headache was short lived.

Yet another doctors appoinment...

Imaya had her 2 month doctors visit today. Imaya is growing quite rapidly. Imaya is now 11 lbs 15 1/2 oz and 22 1/2 inches long.

Her weight is currently in the 75th percentile. She jumped from 60th to 75th percentile in one month. She is my little chunky monkey.

Her height is still in the 50th percentile. This doesn't surprise me as me and daddy aren't too tall. I am 5' 4" and daddy is 5' 8", therefore, I don't think being tall is in Imaya's near future...

While we were at the doctor Imaya began gibbering. This was the first time that I have seen her so active and almost responding to me after I would say something. It was our first conversation. I look forward to many, many more.

Unfortunately, this appointment was when Imaya received her shots. The first one went o.k., but the second left her screaming. I guess that one hurt. I felt so bad. One thing that I can't tolerate is my baby crying!!

10 weeks old...wow!

Imaya is 10 weeks old. Pretty soon my princess will be in school and I won't know what to do with myself. She is growing so fast. I wish that I could keep her this small and cuddly forever.

This week Imaya found my hair this week and has learned to grab onto it. Wonderful! Oh, did I mention that her nails grow ridiculously fast. Therefore, if a go longer than a week she scratches the heck out of my neck. Now, in addition to the scratching I am getting my hair pulled..

Since I have had so many people ask about the pronunciation of Imaya's name I thought I would take a minute to explain. Most of you know me pretty well to know that I do not follow the norm. If everyone is wearing black, I will probably be wearing white. And, of course, with the different spelling of my name you would guess that my baby would have an original name as well. Anyway, back to the pronunciation. Imaya is just like Amaya, instead of with an "i" sound as in igloo. We also call her Maya for short. Therefore, if you are uncomfortable with the pronunciation, Maya is easier. The minute I heard TJ ask me if I like Imaya I knew that it was it. It is such a beautiful, unique name which is perfect for our darling little daughter. Momma loves you Imaya.
